Mrs. Potts and Friends

Cardston Summer Theater is over. The big cast party was last Saturday and now kids are going their seperate ways. It has been so great to have Laurel a part of this group. We have been going to these summer productions for many years and secretly hoped one of our kids would be involved. No suprise that it was Laurel. This year with her playing Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast was a real treat. She even had that English accent just like Angela Lansbury! Her costume is made out of carpet padding. Look at the dresser and clock below. Carpet padding! Belle and the Beast. Here are just a few cast members. I was lucky enough to sneak in before the performance and take pictures on my very own camera. Isn't Rachel the cutest dresser ever? And see the feather duster? Her head piece is made of those scrubbing pads. Marge, the costume designer and neighbor, is so talented. She even made the Beast's scruffy head/wig thingy.
videoThe cast was warming up and I thought it would be fun to record this. Some of the cast was not in the correct costume for this particular song, but I wanted to get a clip of Adrianne singing. Her singing and acting was perfect for the part. And now she is off to Scotland to earn her master's in theater!

What a fun experience! We love to go to the local theater too. I hope Carly will be involved in it. She loves to belt out tunes and dance. We'll see.

Wow, that's awesome. My mom went to all 3 productions and said they were great. I told her to watch out for Laurel and she said she was wonderful in all her roles. I wish I could have gone....

Fun times! Wish we could have arranged to go see it -- timing is everything, isn't it?

the costumes are amazing - people are so creative and talented!!!

What a magic summer for Laurel to get lost in, what a pity life then intrudes. She looks beautiful. One day I look forward to seeing her in a production - perhaps next summer at our family reunion there?!

Oh that Laurel is just one talented chic! and she has such fun in her face. Those costumes are truly fantastic. After hearing their voices, I'll just stick to singing alone in my car.

Oh shucks that I wasn't able to see Laurel in Beauty and the Beast. Like Jan said..."timing is everything".
Those costumes are really amazing. I was looking for the wolf costumes that you made. I hope you took a picture of them. I REALLY hope that Laurel does this again next year because then for sure I can see her in every play.

Wow, Marilee! What a big deal--and yes, amazing costumes. It is so fun to participate in those, and I bet it's so fun to be a mom of one of the performers, too.
